The HIX Award

Located in the basement and former boiler room of Shoreditch’s Tramshed, now Restaurant, lies Mark Hix’s gallery, a setting in which undiscovered, young artists are given a platform to exhibit their work, coupled with a programme of art dinners and private launches.

The HIX Award, judged in 2014 by Tracey Emin is an annual competition for current students and recent graduates of 2 years, shortlisted to 20 works. The process of selection involved visiting all major summer shows to discover talent and publicise the exhibition. Shown above are images of the judges’ lunch at which a number of artists and critics were present.
